Countdown to Election Day Primary Election: Tuesday, September 9, 2008
  General Election:  Tuesday, November 4, 2008

Primary Election, September 9, polls open 12 noon to 9 PM

Registration by mail: Forms are available from your county Board of Elections, town and city halls, post office, and various state agency offices.   Registration must be postmarked by August 15 and received by your board of elections not later than August 20.
Registration in person: You may register at your Board of Elections until August 15.

General Election, November 4, polls open 6 AM to 9 PM

Registration by mail: Must be postmarked by October 10 and received not later than October 15.
Registration in person: You may register at your Board of Elections until October 10.  If you have become a naturalized citizen or been honorably discharged from the military since October 10, you may register in person at the Board of Elections until October 24.
Change of Address: Must be received by October 15.

Absentee Ballots
Primary Election:
Sept. 2   - last day to postmark application for absentee ballot.
Sept. 8 - last day to apply in person for ballot.
Sept. 8 - last day to postmark ballot.  Must be received by September 16.
Sept. 9 - last day to deliver ballot in person to Board of Elections.

General Election:
Oct. 28   - last day to postmark application for absentee ballot.
Nov. 3    - last day to apply in person for ballot.
Nov. 3    - last day to postmark ballot.  Must be received by November 11
Nov. 4    - last day to deliver ballot in person to Board of Elections.
